About Katharine

I came to coaching from a career working with people at crisis points in their lives. From supporting children in social work and educational settings, to working alongside medical teams in humanitarian situations, it is in one-to-one, supportive interaction that I have witnessed the greatest impact.

Now that I have a family, I divide my working life between coaching and writing fiction.

As a coach I will meet you on an equal footing, hold space for your thoughts, offer solidarity, so that you can discover, reclaim or free your innate potential.

For me, coaching brings together the many threads of my own story: I support humanitarian workers to recharge or seek change, I coach parents around ADHD or overwhelm and I work with writers and artists to empower their process and strengthen their creative identity.

I believe that intentional, focused conversations have the power to bring about lasting change.

When I’m not coaching or writing, you can find me up a hill, in a book, playing my fiddle or dreaming of Atlantic islands.

“Wake to Starboard” reflects an old seafaring term used by sailors to bring attention to a change in direction. If the trail of whitewater behind the boat was seen to curve, there was a choice to be made: to steer back on course or continue on the altered passage.

A ship’s wake can lie to port or starboard, but from a moored position in harbour, starboard is the side that looks to open water: a side to ‘wake up’ to with intention and courage.
